European Garden in Middle of the States, Thoughts?:

Greetings from Springfield, Missouri, USA. I'm a life long vegetable gardener who stumbled into taking over a public vegetable demonstration garden where the produce is donated to a local food bank.

According to Forbes magazine's list of "America's Wildest Weather Cities" and the Weather Variety Index, Springfield is the city with the most variable weather in the United States. A slightly elevated city in the Ozarks at 1,266 feet, Springfield sits beneath unstable air (cooler air over warm air) which spurs high winds, including some tornadoes. At the top of the list is the weather of Nov. 11, 1911. It was the day that established a record high and low in the same day with the temperature reaching 80F˚and then plunging to 13F˚ before the day was over. There were rain, gale-force winds, sleet and snow within a 24-hour period.

Aside from the weather, in order to keep me challenged, I decided to try something for the demonstration garden which I've always wanted to try in my own garden, a potager style garden where there are no traditional American "rows" which is carry over from the invention of large scale mechanized farming.

I so enjoyed my brief visit to Kew when I was there. I'm thinking the best place to get feedback is from gardeners in the UK. I invite you to visit our garden via this video and would love to hear your thoughts...

To understand your conditions, we'll need the details in proper measurements, not °F!

But plants in vegetable gardens are often grown in rows here too ;-)

Resin,

Finally, someone who actually responded, I thought for sure there would be more feedback here. Ok, upon input in a temp calculator, "It was the day that established a record high and low in the same day with the temperature reaching 26CËšand then plunging to -10CËš before the day was over. "

Now I was hoping for feedback on the design, the structures, the people working together, etc.

try a British site, they get more traffic. potenger is French, you want cottage gardens, victory gardens (Dig for Victory) or intensive gardening

or try to see if you question can be included on BBC's gardeners question time, you can listen into recent programs, they have a open questions program and they may find you question interesting to the normal stuff they get, never know your luck!
I know they have answered questions before from outside the UK. good luck, I live in the States since last year.
intensive is 3 foot beds jam packed, with veg, 3 foot walkways with boards down to spread weight, then next year beds are walkways and vice versa, my grandad did this born 1906, there again he may have learnt that in Italy at the end of the War when he was there, don't know?

Here is a link that might be useful: hope this helps
