Sorbus fire blight

Additional to an earlier post regarding shade loving plants, two of my Sorbus (Joseph Rock and on unknown variety) have been geting some brown leaves an some die back on the affected branches. I think some of this may be due to Fire blight - I have trimed back the affected branches, but am a little concerened as the Joseph Rock was only planted last year. I water the JR morning and night. I have another Sorbus (Chinese Lace) which I planted late last year and is thus far unaffected.

Is the above just due to the amount of hot sunny weather or is there something else?

Any advice would be most appreciated.

RE: Sorbus fire blight

Fisbey I have seen trees as you describe and in my view the dieback is a form of canker. Certain tree types seem to suffer from such problems. Often such sickness gets into a tree when the tree is stressed allowing access for things like canker. While it is good to water your trees well just make sure you dont water them to much.
The best I can reccommend as regards this problem is to cut back growth suffering from the sickness until you see no staining in the cut growth. I found it can go down further than you expect. Also keep the tree tidy removing any physically damaged growth which can be an access point for canker.
Hope this helps.
