Dieback on Cytisus battandieri

| We have a Cytisus battandieri which was grown from seed. It spent the first three years or so in a pot, where it grew (unpruned) but didn't flower. Since being planted out against a south-facing wall, it has flowered for the past two years, but is producing a lot of dieback, this summer being the worst. It produces quite a few new stems from the base, but even these can dieback when a foot high.
We are at a loss to explain the reason for it, although we have suffered from Honey Fungus in the garden in years gone by. |

| Probably due to cold and wet, this summer! Does it have good soil drainage, or is it sitting in Lake Southern England at the moment? Resin |

| Hi Resin. Waterlogged soil? I don't think so, as it it is sited quite close to a 6ft brick wall which, in normal circumstances, tends to 'suck' moisture from the soil. The Cytisus is surrounded on 3 sides by other plants which are all growing well. |
