It has become increasingly difficult to buy seeds abroad as both the USA and the EU have tightened rules and control is more intensive. Without a phytosanitary certificate customs can seize your seeds and destroy them. Many seed companies do not want the hassle of acquiring a phytosanitary certificate and do not send seeds outside the USA or the EU. I do not trust the sellers on Ebay because many sell seeds not true to name or sell old seeds that won 't germinate in a million years. Some seeds need cold AND moist storage otherwise these loose viability really quick (magnolia seeds for example). Many companies do not store these seeds the right way and the consequence is that the germination percentage is very low (or zero). My 20 year experience is that many seed sellers have a limited knowledge of the seeds they sell. Take for example Acer griseum. If seeds are harvested from a stand alone specimen the chance is very great that the majority of the seeds are empty. Seeds of Acer griseum should be harvested from a number of trees that are in close proximity to each other. A 'cut test' to determine viability percentage is not always useful. Some species have seeds with embryo defects (Lindera, Sassafras) and although looking alright won't germinate. My best germination results I always get with seeds that I harvested myself and sow within a week after harvesting.

OK,, so looks like we all can agree that buying smaller banana trees would be a good option for you. Now that being said,,,, sounds like you're going to need a lot of bananas to fill your garden. If I was in your shoes, I'd think about buying six small trees and set them up where you want them to grow. Get them started and in the mean time, do more research on propogation and division. I'm no banana expert, but I do know that starting with a number like six, and using good techique, within 4 years you could completely fill a yard. Now a yard full of bananas may be a little extreme. But a least multiply them to the extent you want to fill and with the others, you would could trade them online or locally for other plant varietes that might suit you. Either way good luck and have fun with it. I've never spent $55 on any plant. My victory is in doing things the cheap way and making new freinds and trading with them. OH and by the way, if you want a tropical garden, don't forget canna, ginger and elephant ear. I think canna is a must have. I love canna. 6 plant for six bucks just about anywhere. I buy my elephant ear at the grocery store. If it's available, it'll be in the fresh vegetable section under the name of "taro". Yep, the same plant Hawaians make poi out of.

I can understand your disappointment. I have searched all over the Internet for a source of 'on-line Pansy Plants'... no luck. Perhaps we have to wait until later in the season, say early September, when the weather has cooled down and people are more likely to order and plant Pansies.

I typed in primula sieboldii seeds for sale and all it shows was some European sites which won’t work for me, one American one that we’re sold out and another from eBay with 35$ shipping and arrives in late August. I even check Dave’s garden but only had one that sells plants not seeds. But ok I’ll check barnhaven
