Pandanus

Hi

has anyone successfully managed to grow a Pandan plant? I have killed about three of them and was wondering if anyone knew where I was going wrong. My plant is kept on the window sil. I have been told to keep it dry-otheriwse it will rot. I have read somewhere it requires humidity so an idea would be to sit the pot on some stones with a little water.

I just received this one yesterday so want to do everything I can to take care of it. So if anyone out there has any advice or ideas please please PLEASE let me know.

many thanks.

I'd say no to the humidity. I don't know which species you are trying to grow, but I saw a really nice Pandanus tectorius at RHS Wisley growing with the cacti and succulents.

I haven't grown it, but it would seem to need regular water but extremely good drainage. Not sure if it should be left to completely dry between waterings, but a soil with a lot of grit would be a start.

RE: Pandanus

Hi

Well my plant is now dead but I do want to buy another if I can keep it alive. They type I'm trying it Pandanus amaryllifolius which is use in cooking.

I love it and it's one that I really want in my collection.
Any ideas? Anyone..?

thanks.
