Unhappy Dicentra

My dicentra spectabilis has been very unhappy this season; foliage turned an unhealty limegreen colour, and very few flowers.
It has performed beautifully for the previous 4 years, and I had to divide it 2 years ago.I cut it back completely a month ago, and new, yellowish foliage is coming back... What has gone wrong?I would blame the hot weather, but this started well before the heatwave arrived here in southeast of England.

RE: Unhappy Dicentra

I think they always die back from July onwards, at least mine do. Usually there is not much left of them by this time of year. I'm surprised yours produced any new growth after cutting back as they are really Spring growers. Maybe it doesn't like the dry weather, also.
I don't think you're going to know for sure until next spring.
