What goes well with Rosa 'Buff Beauty' ?

Posted by freesia England (My Page) on

I have a sort of paisley shaped flower bed which has a large conifer at the narrow end, with a lonicera (honeysuckle) Graham Thomas growing through it. In the centre of the almost circular bit, I have a shrub rose, Buff Beauty, which opens a peachy colour, and fades to creamy white. I'd like sugestions, please, for plants to go with the rose, maybe some ground cover. The border is about three metres long, and 2 metres wide at the widest point. The soil is sandy loam ( aren't I lucky !), and faces south east, so gets sun most of the day.

Ooh, nice soil! Off the top of my head, how about white gypsophilia? Or some Gaura lindheimeri? Something airy and floaty would be nice. Course, it does depend on the sort of look you'd like to go for..

Thanks, melanie,I do like the idea of gypsophilia and/or gaura around the rose, and now need some ideas for around the edge of the border. I don't want a 'bedded out' look, as I like my planting to look as if it got there on it's own. So, if anyone can think of low growing plants to continue the theme....

Keep an eye out for a hardy Geranium called Orion, it has large blue flowers. I bought a fairly small plant in early May, and though it was already well in flower, and looking as though it had been pushed on for sale, it's still flowering now.
