unknown plant

Seen this plant growing in a friends garden and also wild in Thetford Forest near to where I live in the UK.
I took some seed heads hoping I can cultivate them.
I would appreciate it if someone could put a name to this plant, can't find it anywhere on the net or in my books.

It's quite difficult to identify without seeing the whole plant but it looks a bit like Sheep's Bit Scabious (Stokesia laevis), found mainly in dry grassland. - Ian.

It's double flowered Saponaria officinalis - it was identified elsewhere.

Stokesia laevis does not grow wild in the UK and is not the same as Sheeps' Bit Scabious. That's Jasione montana and looks entirely different.

They appear to be different varieties to me. All are succulents however. If you search under succulents you may be able to find similar images, but they are all so similar it may be hard to tell the varieties exactly. Here is a link that might be useful: Succulents

The leaves do closely match on that one. Not exactly a stunning plant, huh? Doesn't ring any bells for anything we might have planted either. I'll watch it and see how it goes. Thanks.

Thanks to you all for the update and identifying the plant. I think someone has fly tipped a load of garden rubbish there at one time because it is in abundance. I told my gardening friend who practically knows every plant by it's latin name and she also was surprised it was growing wild in Thetford Forest at Great Hockham picnic site. ( There are a multitude of seed heads ripe for picking if anyone is this way and wants a lovely flower).
Is it a Perennial or Bi-Perennial?

Thanks again for takling the time to help. A really great garden website, will tell my gardening friends to join.

It's a tough perennial.

Not sure what you mean by Bi-perennial. Did you mean Biennial? A quicker way to propagate it would to be to dig out some roots. Since it's not native and probably fly tipped there would be no problem with that. But obviously you'd never ever dream of doing it with natives.

Its a lovely plant, but a bit of a weed. You might regret it at some point - its quite happy to get under paving or run away by seed or root

It has the most glorious scent !
