If you can grow good tomatoes here, would you recommend a variety that does well for you? Thanks. Wobur

Hi,wobur. I've had a lot of success with the "Tumbling" varieties. Three plants produce enough for us two and two hungry g-children. They've been great this year, even with the rubbish weather. Haven't had to buy toms. since I tried them, 3 years ago. Admittedly, the fruits aren't very big but they taste O.K. I live on the South Coast so the weather shouldn't be that much cooler where you are. All the best

This is my third year growing tomatoes (only outdoors) and don't ask me how, they're ripening earlier than ever this (summerless) year. As far as I can remember most of the plants that I have this year are called "Gardeners Delight" or something like that. I've already eaten 4 or 5 this year and they're absolutely divine. Once you've grown your own tomatoes you'll never touch those Dutch water bags again.

oh yes, this year we tried 7 different varieties, all outdoors in containers. The cherry tomatoes have won the competition for taste so far, the best one was 'Sungold F1'.
