laurel roots

| I inherited a very old laurel hedge which I have spent this week cutting back to around 6' to 8'. I have thinned the hedge where necessary but this has left me with some very large stumps to get rid off. Can any suggest an efficient method of doing this please? |

| The only method I've found that works is liberal amounts of elbow grease and a mattock. They tend to root fairly shallowly, so you do need to trace the roots out a fair distance from the stem. On heavy soils this is a heavy job. |
