New lawn is brown when cut

Hello

I had a new lawn laid 2 months ago, which I have been watering daily during the hot weather. I have mown it three times now as it is growing quickly and looks very lush. When it is mown, it looks very patchy with lots of dead brown matted grass. This is hidden within a couple of days with fresh growth.
Is this normal for a new lawn? and how do I get rid of the dead grass, as I can only assume it will start to choke the new groth over time.

Thanks in advance.

Yvonne

RE: New lawn is brown when cut

A new lawn needs time to establish itself. When cutting have the blade on the mower set high so only the smallest amount of grass is taken off. A thicker lawn will hold its colour and survive dry weather better. Only cut it when it needs cutting. Resist the temptation to cut it every 5 minutes, I know you want it to look good but give it a chance. You will soon be proud of it.
Organicade.
