 o
disease in box hedging

Help!
i have a 4yr old box hedge around my garden ,that, against all the odds(we have a rather large yew tree over hanging the garden),but with lots of t.l.c.has thrived.
Two weeks ago i noticed a dead patch...dog was main suspect!
However, the 'patch' has literally run down the length of hedging, even jumping over a path, and continuing rapidly. If i don't do something soon i am going to lose it all!
Someone sugested spraying with jayes fluid, but i can't see any sign of bugs or the 'cotton'like worms i've come across before, and i think, whatever it is, is too rampant. i've heard of a new blight, which spreads by spores? in which case, do i need to rip it out and burn it asap?
Any advice would be welcome.Thankyou
