Lithodora Grace Ward ???? Help

Hi Everyone ,
Can anyone give me some info regarding Lithodora ?
Mine were growing quite well until they started to turn black in the center and spread outwards . This happened to all except two clumps which remained green.
Growth is slowly coming back in the ones that turned black but I am trying to find out why it turned black in the first place .
Any info would be great
Thanks ,

Possibly mulch or weeds growing through the branchlets. Too much water inadvertently is another likely culprit. And they're not fond of lime.

I had the same difficulties with Lithodora Blue Star and just threw it out in the end. First it was in soil which I assumed was more on the acid end of the scale since I've got pieris and camellia elsewhere in the garden. The plant did really badly, and I tried again potting it up in ericaceous but it continued to look like a half dead thing so I gave up. In my case could've been underwatered though - it got a bit scorched at one point in the pot.

My mother has hers under a magnolia, competing with the roots and a parade of Verbenas. It's been there for years with rarely a drink over the summer. Silty soil and afternoon sun. Mine are out in the 'gravel garden' - shingle in a medium-stiff clay loam, with morning sun and filtered afternoon. So far so good for 'Grace Ward' , the 'Star' and the alba. When I planted into shade they sighed and departed. Didn't even get as far as the compost heap. Much better this time.
