Winter holidays for garden lovers

| Bit of a different topic but I was wondering if anyone had any good suggestions for winter garden holidays? I get so bored in the winter, particularly when it rains non-stop like it is now, and it is always nice to have something to look forward to.
I really like the sound of this holiday: http://snipurl.com/y7s2
The idea of seeing all those tropical plants and getting away from the cold for a bit sounds great. Has anyone got any other ideas?

| I think the Canary islands are lovely, packed with interesting plants and cheap. I've only been in Feb, but I think the weather is OK all year (better check that) and there was plenty of plant life around to look at then. You can buy guides to indigenous and introduced species and go round being a plan(t) spotter! If you've got more dosh I'd consider South Africa, should be warm as it's the Southern hemisphere. Dec to Mar is usually good for the Caribbean and being tropical, there's always something growing to look at, fscinating if you've not been to the tropics before. |

| Just go anywhere in the tropics (I mean proper tropics, not Canaries) It's one big garden! Would particularly recommend Baracoa in Cuba or Kerala in India |

| I vote for South Africa. Incredible for succulents but also lots of more "normal" plants in the Cape Floral Kingdom area. Pick you time carefully, the dry and wet seasons are very pronounced and the plants follow them. |
