Summer Irises breaking through already

Posted by prettypotty SE UK (My Page) on

I planted my spring and summer bulbs a few weeks ago. And to my suprise, i found they have decided to break through already.

They do live in pots in a cold frame, but i do also have a pot outside the frame doing the same thing.

Will i still get my spring crocuses and daffodils, and my summer irises next year???

Any help would be great.

Thanks.

RE: Summer Irises breaking through already

Crocus and daffodils tend to break though in November or December here and they flower just fine. With the recent warm winters, some daffodils can pop into flower almost any time during the winter when there are a few warm sunny days.

Which Irises do you have? The Dutch Iris will send up foliage almost any time. Bearded Iris I don't know about.
