Need Eryngium Search Help

| I am trying to identify the plant shown in the photo below. I photographed it at the Royal Botanic Gardens in 1993. The flowers are unusually large for an Eryngium, I'd say about 3" high by 4-5" wide. I have determined that it is not 'Blue Star' nor 'Amethystinum'. Can anyone help me with identification? Does anyone know a source for the plant? Thank you.

| It is a variety of Eryngium alpinum, l grow this, and it is very pretty, and they are available in the USA, but l find that there are more varieties on offer in England, than your country. You can grow them from seed, but it is quite tricky. |

| Thanks Hawthorne Cottage for your response.Do you have any idea of the name of this variety? I have a friend who would really like to try one but needs more info to find it. Also , what makes it difficult to grow from seed ? Thanks again for your help. Kareen |
