Multipurpose compost from green waste

I was wondering what members opinions and experiences are of composts made from green waste such as that collected by local councils. When I say compost I mean such as to use in containers etc and not that used for soil conditioning.
I ask as where I work we have recently started to sell a produce by a company called Vital Earth. The produce we currently sell is called Vitaliser Plant Aphrodisiac multipurpose compost. We have tried it on a few plants and have been pleased so far with the results. Plants tested included Poinsettias which are quite picky as regards compost.
On Wednesday I attended the opening of Vital Earth's new composting plant in Derbyshire. This plant will take in and process most green waste including cardboard and kitchen waste produced in Derbyshire. The facility was massive and was already composting a large quantity of waste in rows indoors having first been steralised.
The main beauty I guess is it was sterile and being inside cannot get recontaminated with wind blown seeds etc.
They have just launched a new range linked to the John Innes institute which indicates they are offering a pretty good product.
Sadly the only downside to the official opening of the plant was the celeb who was to open the facility didnt turn up- many people in suits did not look happy. And who was the celeb who let them down. None other than Mr Monty Don! Well done Monty !

In Greater Manchester you can purchase compost made from your very own green waste. And I bet its a lot cheaper than anything made by Vital Earth :) Haven't tried it though, I make my own and don't see much need to pay for it. It is good news that composted products are actually becoming easier to find again, as opposed to everything just being peat.

I have happily used the Eco Mix and Eco Mulch from Eco Composting in Christchurch, Dorset for several years now. They take the green waste from several councils, I believe. Not especially cheap, though. I have attached a link.

Here is a link that might be useful: Eco Composting

Nice that they have analysis data for their composts, it is a timely reminder of the amount of lime that most commercial composting operations add to their green waste. Definitely not good for those ericaceous plants!
