Can anyone identify this plant?

A friend of mine has this plant in a pot that was sold to him as a "fern", but it doesnt seem to fit the definition of a fern. It looks like a small cabbage, but has quite thick, veiny almost feathery "leaves". It seems to be producing odd aerial roots from the undersides of the fronds.

Any suggestions or clues greatly appreciated.

Thanks pineresin - you were spot on!

Personally I've never heard of this group of plants, but there's always something new to be learnt.

You sometimes see Selaginella (usually S. kraossiana) used in Japanese gardens on rocks and other stone features. It forms soft drifts and looks smashing.
