Can you really grow lime trees there in London? I can't believe it! Isn't it too cold there?

If you mean the type of citrus trees that produce lime fruits, no, we don't grow them, except in large conservatories or glasshouses with heat.

We do grow what we call Lime trees, or Linden trees, often as street trees, but they're species of Tilia, not any sort of citrus, and they don't produce any sort of edible fruit.

There's information about our Lime trees on the link.

Here is a link that might be useful: English Lime Trees

Related to tulip-poplar, aren't they?

I don't think Tilia and Liriodendron are particularly closely related although they are often found growing together. Same class, different order, I think, but that really isn't very close at all.
