The Bluetits are back in the nesting box in the sycamore tree. They are such pretty colours and have risen in numbers. We have also had a couple of times a long tailed tit and another one which I don't know it's name. It is really nice to have such variety. Today a dunnock came into the pond and rested on the watercress to have a drink.

They are beaut arn't they.

Over the early sping we had waxwings come in there hundreds to the city and they made a two week stop at the pond ;) was a lovely sound and sight :)

Another benefit of pond.. not just fish but birds too ;)

RE: Bluetit

I have never seen a waxwing. I will have to look them up and see what they look like. It is wonderful to have so much variety in the garden due to having a pond. I love to see them all. Even the magpie who drops in to get a taste of the grubs in the blanketweed. Yesterday two baby starlings were having a bath in the top circle of the waterfall. I have usually seen the starlings just feeding on the ground mainly bread. They never went to the birdseed feeders, anyway they have had a real brood of babies (well into double figures) and they just love to fly onto the feeders hanging down from the tree with suetsticks in. They just adore it and sometimes there are two or three hanging on eating as much as possible. Nothing much goes for the one with peanuts in except the baby squirrels. They look so funny as they hang on upside down holding onto the perches either side of the feeder and nibbling away. They look like they are doing handstands. The bushy tail is standing up in mid air. If we get some pics I will put them onto my website if anyone wants to see them.
