Goldfish turning white! help

Dear Group

What do you think? they seem very happy. Only 2 out of the 5 Goldfish are progressively turning white. Started 12-18 mth ago, they are the fat ones as well, thought they may be the females!


Hope somebody else has this effect on fish.

Mark, Im pretty sure that I have read somewhere else on this forum that this is totally fine and can happen to goldies. If they have survived this long anyway I would have the general feeling that they will be fine. As to the reason, I`m sure one of the good folk on here will have the explanation you need.

Yes mine have also turned colour. Some of them never turn from the brown to orange in the first place. I don't have an explanation for why this happens. It is just one of the oddities of pond life. It is sometimes a shame though when you have bought a fish for it's beautiful bright orange colour and then it goes and changes into a pale version or a multicoloured version.

Thanks Alison and Steve. I feel better that it is not something I am doing that has caused this colour change. You are right it is a shame when they lose the lovely bright orange. I still have 3 that are completely orange, but will treat them all the same!!
