Pond Skaters

Haven't seen any frogs yet. Does anyone know if pond skaters are supposed to hibernate? I caught a couple playing Mummies a& Daddies the other day. Don't they know it's winter and their little Darlins will probably end up having to do a Torvill & Dean?!

Hope they don't get a nasty shock...I think they are supposed to be asleep!

At least thats what the BBC says--check the site!

(Mind you, I seem to have insomniac pond skaters too)

Here is a link that might be useful: BBC wildfacts

Thanks for letting me know about this site -fascinating stuff!

Well, global warming it might be, but according to this site pondskaters should be having a nice long kip till the end of April!!
