I went out with a torch last night and found 2 male smooth newts and 2 male frogs.

Aahhh,

We have little palmate newts I have decided, and they have started making their presence known. As the taddies are hatching we will be having some very very fat palmate newts!

There are Great Crested Newts about a mile away, so I keep hoping!

If you crossed your male frogs and newts, would you get frewts?

It is too late in the evening...

Hi Chip,

So jealous! The one and only newt I had a couple of years back seems to have disappeared - probably in search of a mate.
I got that one with some weed I was given and it was lovely to catch glimpses of it but, alas, no more!

I found my first newt eggs of the year in my pond yesterday. Also the first swimming frog tadpoles, and at night I saw about 15 newts. :o)
