Would`nt it be nice if when we posted we knew how many people had read our post. Tivo forum 990 replies read by 57,350. Sky+ forum 54 replies 2,778 members read it. It would be nice if we knew how many people read ours it would make it more worthwhile don`t you think.

Good point Annabel.

RE: would`nt it be nice.

I'm feeling like you Annabel. I posted on the gardening forum a few days ago and so far not one reply. Lots of other people have posted since then and all had replies so it makes me feel a little stupid, as if I might not have explained things correctly. At least on here people reply sometimes just to tell you they can't help but someone else might, which I think is really nice. On the first point that was mentioned by deesee I sometimes think it would be nice to know how many people go onto my website. We didn't put a guest page on but I did put 'email me' on the homepage which a few people have and it has been lovely to see an email about it and know someone has been looking.

Alison... I have your website on my favourites. I have showed your video to my family and some colleagues and all were so impressed. Everything looks perfect. I'm also very interested to see your bird pic album growing (now I'm off to see your post on the gardening forum!!!).

Same here Alison--I look at it when I need cheering up!

RE: would`nt it be nice.

Thankyou both. I have just sat here and written you a long tale only to find that I went to do a capital letter and must have pressed control instead of shift and lost the whole lot... I tried to get things back to no avail so I will start again.
Thanks for your lovely comments. I have some lovely frogs pics to put on the site once they have been changed from the video format. It was my birthday a few days ago and my husband made me a birthday card with a photo of my favourite frog on the front. I have since framed it. It was so nice.
The birds are harder to get pics of. At the weekend we went driving around to get some pics of birds of prey. We managed to see two soaring above us and must have looked rather silly as we kept turning the car around and trying to follow them. They could actually have been buzzards really as they were too far away to see properly with the hazy weather. The sky was not very clear at all. In the end the birds did what they do best and flew to pastures new away from any road that we could follow on.
I'll tell you this little tale of my scarecrows which I was part way through when I lost everything... As it was my birthday I was given some money so I went down to my local shops to the florist as they also own a nursery and have a lot of great garden plants. Right at the top of their outside display were two scarecrows with a bamboo pole as the main body (to place into the ground) the faces were made out of round polystyrene covered with a waterproof plastic like the cover of a baby changing mat. They had for their arms and legs long straw coloured leaves a bit like cordyline or formium?(can't spell them). Their waistcoats shirts and trousers were made of brightly coloured material. Anyway you get the picture a bit like Worzel Gummidge.
I just thought they were lovely and immediately bought them both as I couldn't make up my mind which I liked the best. Now here was the problem. Getting them home. I already had other bags filled with shopping and new plants. These scarecrows are about 4ft high or more. In the end I decided to tie them both together and carried all my bags in one hand and the scarecrows in the other. I had to walk all through the shopping centre to get to the bus stop. Everyone was watching me and smiling when they saw the scarecrows. I even stopped at a stall in the centre which was there just for the week. They had really beautiful doorstoppers made with a rabbit soft toy ( just like Peter Rabbits mummy )with a dress on. They were so beautiful that I had to stop and admire them. So whilst I was admiring the ladies wares she was admiring the scarecrows and looking to see if she could maybe make them herself. Anyway I bought one with a pretty dress on (they are about 18inches high and quite heavy) and made my way to the bus. On getting on the driver looked at me as I paid my fare and smiling said "aren't you paying the fare for them" I said "noooo" - What a carry on trying to sit down. Well finally home and the grandchildren came so we decided where to put them up and down the garden.
On my hubbys return from work he looked at them and said " thats a bit silly isn't it - what is the purpose of a scarecrow? to scare the birds ( I hadn't thought of that - I could just see how cute they were) So now they have been transferred to the top of the garden above the waterfall. Hopefully the birds will get used to them and still come for a bath, and the frogs will just hop past them.
Oh and another thought about my website. My sister lives quite a few miles away so I don't see her as often as I would like. She works in her local school and they had put some frogspawn in the classroom to watch them grow. When she saw my video of the frogs croaking in the pond she took the web address to give to the teachers as she said they would be thrilled to see them. So that was nice.

RE: would`nt it be nice.

Well, I can understand the children enjoying your website Alison. Any chance of a picture of your scarecrows? Out of interest, has anyone been to the kingfisher watch session organised by Kew Gardens??

RE: would`nt it be nice.

Totally left field but every time I see the title of this thread I start humming the Beach Boy's tune.

Great minds(or is it small minds?)think alike.

Right hopefully this will work and it will show a pic of the scarecrows at the top of the waterfall. They looked brilliant when they were in the borders of the garden and I took lovely pics of them with the children but obviously they had to move.

RE: would`nt it be nice.

It is funny how people observe things without us knowing, because I met my friend who lives a few doors down and slightly round the corner from me. We can see each others back gardens,(but she can see mine from the comfort of a warm conservatory) and she was the friend who had given me some money for my birthday with which I bought the scarecrows. I mentioned to her that I had bought these scarecrows with her birthday money and she told me that she and her husband had been discussing the scarecrows (obviously they had seen them in the garden) and she had said to him " I'm sure those scarecrows are moving" and they had laughed about it. Anyway I told her she wouldn't be able to see them now as they were up at the top of the waterfall so they wouldn't scare the birds away. But it just goes to show you that nothing we do goes unnoticed.

RE: would`nt it be nice.

They are adorable Alison. I'll be the one on the right then!!!

There you go... now they have names!

I know what you mean about neighbours... get this, I have come home from work and found my neighbours sitting under my pagola or mowing the grass!!! Without my knowledge, one of them even changed my car tyre whilst I was in the bath! Weird, but nice-ish!
