| I had the pondvac 1, and to be honest, I cannot say I was overly impressed. I found that the machine kept blocking up, the engine would cut out and I had to wait until the chamber had emptied before it restarted. If the pond is shallow enough to be able to remove detritus from the bottom by using a mesh net, then that it what I would use. This is indeed the method I now employ. Howver this situation was rather forced because the pondvac fell into the pond and now does not work at all!!!!! John |

| I bought a whopping great pump (3000-4000 gal/hr nonsubmersible) off of ebay last year with the intention of fitting a flexible pipe/nozzle to the suction and a flexible pipe from discharge to drain. After a whole day messing about with it I gave up and it's somewhere in the garage now. The problem was initial priming and once pumping pulling air into the pump casing thru' the mech. seal or suction to flexible pipe joint due to the negative head on the suction side. I might have another go with it this year if I fancy a day of frustration and a soaking. When it was pumping, briefly, it seemed to work well. |

At the moment I am in the mood to recant my recommendation of a diy vac as spent most of the day trying to vac the fish pond but there are so many plants, hornwort, in there that the blooming vacuum head kept clogging evey 30sec and then the thing had to be reprimed. An air vac has the advantage of self priming but I guess even a posh one would have been struggling with my jungle. BTW I now think you were asking about the Oase pondvac rather than a pond vacuum, by all accounts the new Oase pond vac is good but I believe they are quite pricey. I will see how I feel tomorrow |
