not a clue!...mine is white with blossom though ;-)

How curious! I've had white streaks in the pond which turned out to be the woodpigeons, and after a heavy rain the pond can look quite murky and lighter coloured for a day. Can you describe it a bit more (like how white?), maybe it can ring bells with someone.

when mine went that way it was due to a neighbour adding soap to it.

Heron leave a scum on the surface, they dont colour the water. Do you have any grey soil or clay in the pond that could have been disturbed by something?

Have you treated it with algae killer? This might make any green algae lose its colour and look white. Has heavy rain washed any pollutants into the water? Do you have any pond test kits? How do your pond plants/ fish/ tadpoles/ pond creatures look? |

Persil .. thats familiar .. thats happened to me twice and i even had motor oil thown over my chicken coop too ... some people are just evil to the core!. As for the white ... any chance is could be the spawn bubbles? my pond has gone all white/bully with the fish spawing (at least i hope its spawn ... i cant smell the persil!) Richard

the most common cause is birds bathing in the waterfall lol, the oil that comes out of the feathers causes a frothy white scum on the surface, which is worse in the morning, and its a bugger to get rid of quickly too, you dont even need a water fall, i have seen blackbirds and starlings sit on a plant and bath or stand in a shallow bit! so it might be that..............might not tho, dont rule out a wicked nieghbour lol
RE: pond water

If that is the case Alan, I'm wondering why I don't get white scum in the bird bath, they use that to have a good old splash around!
RE: pond water

I thought the white scum after the woodpigeons bath was due to the cleaning process, until I saw they don't just use it as bath but a toilet as well! So Mickey, what do you think it is??

Not enough volume of water kazzie, next time you see them bath in it take a cup and poor some water into it, you will see it then, ponds with fountains water falls etc make it worse by disturbing the surface making it froth up, but even a still pond gets a bit.
