dividing lilies

I was given last year some old lilies, dont know type, but quite large leaved. I have since split the ryzones & created about 25 new lily plant. Does any one know how deep I should plant the new ones and whilst some have stong leaves (12/15 inches) reaching the pond surface others , though in leaf, seem stunted with curled leaves?
Any ideas any one?

RE: dividing lilies

6" for the weak ones, ie 2 or 3 inches over the crown until they start sprouting proper pads then gradually move them to depth. It is better to let the pads open and then sink the pot a few inches etc. Incidently proper pads are generally curled until they get near the surface.
Either you had large plants, or quite a few, or you cut them very small to get 25 cuttings.
