I think it looks very nice Sean, those bays you made have really taken well. The Iris look lovely and healthy you should get some good flowers on those. Alison |

| I agree with Alison... it looks lovely Sean. Do the rest of your plant bays look that good? What pond will you put your new lilies in? |

The bays are working fairly well but not quite what I had hoped for just yet. I think they need more surface cover, creeping jenny perhaps, and quite a lot of stuff is late this year or I am wanting it to be earlier that it wants to be. Plus it may be a bit alkali inside the bays for some plants so I have ordered some P1 and will lift the plants and seal the bays and any exposed cement. Why I was asking about the far corner is that I am not sure I like the non vertical nature of the yellow and green grass beside the yellow flag iris, I think it would be better with something more vertical in that bay. I wish I had thought of the bays when I was building the pond they could have been a lot deeper then. I could get the drill out when the plant are lifted etc but thats going to be nerve racking with the liner below the cement. |

| I really like the design of the bays, and think they will work well. I know what you mean about the grass alongside the iris, it seems like a wasted opportunity especially as the iris looks so, well-- majestic it makes the grass look scruffy in comparison. Something with colour, and more round-shaped leaves may be nice--and something that drapes over the rim. My knowledge of plant names escapes me at present! My pond tends to have a lot of lush green and not much colour which I am trying to correct, so that is swaying my thinking! Best wishes with your parents by the way--it must be a full time job. |
