Do you have any sort of fence or gate? I have thought about a small pond in our front garden, but we have a shared drive and the gates do not get shut, so would probably only do it if I could fence off the garden and pond bit. I would rather do this than try to fit a grid. Last year it was in the news that a toddler wandered out of a nursery and died in a (back) garden pond. There are young children that regularly play in the front garden of a house hear ours, and I would worry that they might come in the garden. Not sure what the legal position is...duty of care |

| I think that as long as you have gates that shut off your property then you should feel that you can make a pond in your own garden. How exciting that would be. If you feel a need you can always put a danger sign up nearby. Or you can put a decorative fence around the pond so it is a bit safer in case a young child does enter your garden. My sister in law was a childminder and she had a fence around her pond until she stopped working and now has taken it down. If I had room I would probably have a pond in my front garden..and side garden...instead of just the back. lol. |
