As i am a lazy so and so i have taken the coarse filter material out of my filter, as i did last winter(i don`t like my hands in cold water) i`ve turned of the uv and just left the bio in, i am very pleased to report that my water is clearer than it has ever been before, i can even see my minnows from my bedroom window, if only it was so easy in the summer. derek.

your filter will still be clogged with bits even in winter.

There is nothing in the filter body to clog up,the water just flows around and through the bio media then through to the waterfall, the filter body is not choc-a-block with media only what is normally in below the sponges.
