Rudd & tench

| Just cleared out a well-established small pond and found 6 rudd about 4 or 5 inches long, and 2 tench about 9 inches long. All presently in a kiddies paddling pool.
Not particularly keen on the rudd and the tench are hardly decorative. I also have a koi pond and the largest koi is around 24 inches. I've seen this one eat a frog so letting the rudd go in this pond seems a bit risky (for the rudd). Thinking of disposing of the rudd to my local pond shop and maybe putting the tench in the koi pond. Then re-stocking my small pond with a few goldfish.
Any opinions/advice welcome.

I know you shouldn't release them into the wild. Otherwise, not being a koi keeper I don't think I can help. I hope someone else can help. Why don't you set up your small pond without fish and as a wildlife pond. You should get a greater variety of pond life if you do. |

| Good idea with the small wildlife pond. Decorative fish are great, but wildlife these days needs all the help it can get, and garden wildlife ponds make such a difference. And the beauty of a wildlife pond is breathtaking! Chip |

| ...and you don't have to feed the fish, filter or test water etc. Or get too upset when herons call. |
