My water lily "chromatella" has sprouted roots from under the flower and there is a leaf stalk growing inside the flower. Is this in any way normal?

it may be a viviparous shoot, check out http://www.victoria-adventure.org/waterlilies_images/vivips/page1.html and any links from that to Sean Stevens who can be found either on AWGS
http://s14.invisionfree.com/Water_Gardening/index.php?&showforum=1 or http://watergardening.groupee.net/groupee/forums

or "koi phen" with out the space. You could also try the US side of this board. Not many people come to the UK section anymore because of the adverts.
