| Thanks Linda. Pearl sorry to hear of your hassles - I'm sure all will turn out good for you . I know you worked hard to get your water quality right - and had to deal with soft water problems. What process did you use to get the ph right and keep it there? So I guess you are busy building a new life with some lucky guy? I wish you well.... Best wishes Keith |
RE: Koi keepers

hi keith, i used to have a lot of problems with very low ph, got around this problem by using loads of lithaqua, takes a while but brings the ph up and keeps it steady. do you have a low ph? but no pond to take care off anymore, but still like to drop in and read all the messages posted, and to give advice if and when i can. no not dating anyone at the min, mind u always on the lookout for some rich guy lol know any? pearl |

| Mix a tub of bicarbonate of soda in a bucket of water and add it, leave it an hour then test the water again, add more if needed, baking soda is excellent for low ph and is completely safe to use with all fish and plants, and only costs a few pence. |
RE: Koi keepers
| | |
yeah but bicarb does not make the water stable, if you forget to add it then your in diff's. lithaqua is more expensive but in the long run the water is always stable. pearl |

Hmm never a single solution to these things is there. I think Im with you on this Pearl, not always best to go for the cheapest option I find. (sadly thats why Im maybe not quite that rich guy you mention.... ;-). Always trusted your wisdom before and seems to work for me! Hope you managed to have some fun over the holiday. keith |

| At this time of year it probebly would, its a quick fix for bad cases during the hight of the season, high and low ph cause a few health issues, so its best sorted quickly, another good one for ph is white viniger, both work well and are safe to use, but in anyevent a part water change after adding it is preferable, and while the pond is mainley dormant it would most likely do the job, but it is mostly a quick fix and often easier to obtain in a hurry. Shame you had to give up your pond, should have kept it and moved him out lol. |
RE: Koi keepers
| | |
hmm i know AJC i wish that had of been an option, but unfortunately i couldnt' move him out!! lol aw keith pity your not the rich guy im lookin for, but im sure your happily married anyway, story of my life all the nice guys are taken already sigh !!!!!! keep on with your pond and if you have any questions i'll be happy to help if i can.. pearl |

| Pearl, sorry about the break up but you seem to have a good attitude towards it, I am curious who wanted the fish, you or him, if you what will happen to the fish? No, I am not fishing, I dont want koi, just curious. Remember what your mummy told you, beware of strange men in pubs, especially those that are fishy!! Oh dear. Can my jokes get any worse? |
RE: Koi keepers
| | |
| Hi sean, i wanted the fish, but since i have left the home he's keeping them. maybe some day i'll be in the position to build another pond. sean your jokes are great as always. i'll keep that in mind about the fishy men in pubs. Pearl |
RE: Koi keepers

Hi Sean I appreciate your good advice for Pearl. No need to worry though, nothing sinister going on, just two lost soles ...(sorry for that one !). Pearl, I'm very happy if you want to bring a friend along, shall I book a table for three? Hope you got the pics ok . Keith Oh and I'll check my aftershave - dont want to be fishy! |
RE: Koi keepers

Hi Keith, great pics ta, at least i can now put a face to the name. its ok i think you have a face i can trust, so a table for 2 would be great. im sure we'll have a whale of a time, but no codding around at the end of the evening though lol ( sorry thought i'd get a few fishy ones in myself lol ) Keith im sure your after shave will be fin-tastic Pearl |
